Getting to Know You

Contractor Reviewing Plans, home remodel, home remodelingThis process will go both ways.  You and your Designer should communicate and feel comfortable that everyone understands the particular goals of your Project.  This also a means a frank discussion about Budget, and what you can and cannot do within your Budget.   A Designer will be able to help you keep your  Remodeling Project on target for Planning, Budget, Design, and Installation.

The  Process of Selecting a Home Remodeling Designer

Meet or talk with at least 2  Designers that you have pre-qualified with your Research.

  • Discuss your Project at length together
  • Determine if you communicate well together
  • Discuss style, architecture, function, & budget
  • Discuss how involved, or not, you want to be in the Design process
  • Understand how your drawings will be presented (ie. CAD or other hand drawn)
  • Discuss Design Fees for the layouts & material selections and/or Project Management fees if chosen
  • Select your Designer
  • Measurements and photos are begun
  • Design Concept and Layouts are started
  • Meeting and Reviews with Homeowners
  • Revisions to Layout, Final Plans,  Perspectives
  • Material Selections & Alternates if any
  • Estimates and Proposal
  • Contract Documents & Specifications
  • Pre-Construction Meetings
  • On-Site Project Management (if contracted)
